Monday March 16, 2015 Halle, Germany

Well Familie, Hallo! I really love reading your emails! Thanks for being so detailed! 1. River mentioned that you will be going to San Diego for spring break again? Is this a Tradition? If so... just remember when I get home next year! ;) Na ja, (ha yes) that will be fun! 2. Mom, I already had the pictures of the pills and stuff because you asked me for them the last week. I wish I could say I was inspired or something, but I just did what you told me to do. I email from the church or the Internet laden place. But my companion’s don’t seem to like the Internet place. They would rather spend FOUR HOURS in the church. So we are here...for 4 hours every p day. 3. English Flyers. Yep, we teach an English class, but like 3 three people come and they already know how to speak English which is good because I can speak English, I just don't know how to teach it! 4. Dad, There is a difference between what we do on p-day and what I would like to do on p-day. We do lebensmittle (?) shopping. Cleaning. Emails. That’s about it. If I had a little more of a say in it we would go to a different museum every week, (however they aren’t open on Mondays anyway so we would have to switch hours) or work out/play a sport. I’m DYING to do something physical! Or take a nap at home! Just SOMETHING!! Maybe one day I will have a companion that wants to do that stuff too! 5. Dad, thanks for making your letters funny. It’s not very often I get jokes like yours here in the mission field. I used to get them a lot, but now that Elder Silver is transferred I don't get them quite as often! 6. Mom, thanks for the pictures, and you are looking great! Really, I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it!

Die Woche (the week)....

Montag: We taught David and had a joint teach with Bruder Mitte who went on his mission to France so he helped us out! (Also, I hate that every country has a different name in every language. Deutschland, Germany. Why is it not the same?) David still has a lot to learn and apply before he can get baptized and he keeps telling us that he wants to be baptized in about a month or 2. We will see.

Dienstag: We had one or two appointments that fell out. BIG surprise there! Just kidding...that’s a bad attitude! I did have faith that they would work out! I just don't have very good luck I guess. We did meet with Enrico and he has some pretty good, deep questions that are fun to answer!

Mittwoch: We had another appointment fall out...schade (what a shame)! But, we met with David again and showed him the restoration video in French! He liked it and now finally believes that Joseph Smith is a Prophet! We then had Seminar and Chor (choir). It’s pretty much the missionaries and a couple other people in the chor and our chor teacher thinks I have a good voice, but that I need to be louder, and not so airy! So she likes to work with me and my vocal chords hurt every time we leave!

Donnerstag: This day we had 7 hours of finding! Sister Egberts first time of finding for that long in like 3 Transfers! But we did good and switched it up! We did a different "topic" or "way" of finding each hour! Genealogy Cards, normal Cards, English Flyers, Umfrage (survey), Easter, and Book of Mormon! The last person we talked to was SO cool! We talked for a half an hour and he asked about all of the good stuff! Why we are here on the earth, how we pray, why we were on a mission, how we know God is there. Oh! All the good stuff! I hope we run into him again soon! (He didn't want to meet with us, but did take a book of Mormon) We also taught David the Word of Wisdom! He is awesome and read all the stuff and he told us they were all bad and that he wants to be healthy so he doesn't do them. He likes his boxing! Yes!

Freitag: We did weekly planning (You know how I feel about it already). We then met with Lydia! She is awesome! Not afraid to ask questions or anything! My favorite thing she said when we were meeting was that growing up and studying the bible she felt like something was missing. That there was more. She has read/heard of the book of Mormon from past missionaries and she said she liked it because it made sense. Why would God stop revealing things to his children? We also jumped on modern day prophets and General Conference with that one! She really likes the idea (It’s not just an idea, it’s the truth) of a modern day Prophet to lead us on the earth today. We then had Deutsch Class and English Class.

Samstag: The Groitsch (however you spell it...It’s a small town where other elders in our Distrikt serve) elders had a baptism and we brought David! The only problem was that when we all (there were about 8 missionaries trying to catch this bahn) ran to the bahn, the doors shut on me and David and so we didn't make it. Yep...just me and David! My companion was on the bahn, but not me. Really...the 2nd rule I thought I would never break...I broke! Please laugh at me, because it is just my luck! Also, I didn't have the cell phone! But David did! So that was good! But yeah...so Sister Egbert came back and we waited a good 20 minutes until the next one came! We missed the actual Baptism, but we got to show David the Baptismal font. He liked it and like being with all the people there. Oh! And Guess what?! I met a man named Enrico that served with Brad Allen in Austria! (is that what is in English?) He was really cool and I took a picture with him!

Sontag: Church. It was hard to pay attention yesterday. Too many things on my mind! We met with David and Joni right after church and really wanted to know if David felt like he would be ready or even wanted to be baptized on the 28th. To our great surprise he said he knew that’s when he needs to be baptized. So…we have A LOT of work to do! But we will do it! He is great! We then ate at the Riedels! They have five kids 6 and under! 2 sets of twins and only one Girl! It’s always fun! And, we had TACOS!! Oh so good! They are so sweet! Also, Sister Degraw, a sister that served here about a year ago came back and went by on Comfort with us! She is super sweet and it’s weird because she has a normal life now and can wear pants. PS. She is also dating someone from this mission. We hear about people ALL the time who have gotten married to each other from this mission. President gives us an update on all the people that get married! Funny!

Well, today we had to go to Leipzig for a doctor’s appointment for sister Egbert! She has a sinus infection! So we didn't do very much today besides eat at McDonalds and email! Love you tons!

Liebe, Sister St. John
Some swans in a lake at a park!
Me & Enrico (he said the beard was just an experiment!)
David and us going to the baptism!
I got a new watch for 6€! I love it!

With Sister DeGraw
