Hallo!! well...another week! Gosh.
Time is weird! I'm writing this email in the library, and I've been watching
the sun go down as I've been emailing. It is totally dark around here by 5:15. Awful!
Being in a small town in the winter will be interesting!
Well...my week, transfer week is
always interesting!
Montag: saddest day of my entire
mission! Sister Medley saying goodbye to the Meckel’s and Lucy! Awful!! I had a
massive crying headache...thank you Stewart genes!
Dienstag: We got up, and left to
Leipzig! I hung out with a bunch of missionaries in my favorite Bahnhof! (railway
station) (really though! It's the best!) And then Sister Bills came! We took
our train back to Gera and guess what? One stop, just one stop before we were supposed
to get out, the train stopped in this tiny tiny town and said it was ending
there. So we...and 50 other people got off and waited for a bus. Luckily
Schwest Dörlitz called us wondering why we weren't at the bahnhof and came and
picked us up! Then we went to Werdau for a relief society activity. Those are
always fun because we get to do crafts!
Mittwoch: Distrikt meeting. Elder
Schofield is our new distrikt leader and his new comp is from Australia! I'm
going to try to pick up his accent before we get transferred. Then, we met with
Schwester Barthel and Bruder Kosak. (Pres. Kosak’s dad) Little miracle, driving
to her house the road was closed (go figure) and I was scared that we weren't
going to be there on time. We made a turn and I said a prayer that it would
connect. And guess what?! It did! I know...stupid little miracle. But it is a miracle
because usually it adds like 30 mins onto our drive. But this time it didn't!
Lots of stress taken off! They are both about 90 years old and gave some good
life advice. Like...even when your back hurts you endure the 3 hours of church!
I will make sure to write that one down Bruder Kosak! Then, we helped in Sch.
Sorge’s garden. Then studies.
Donnerstag: Drove to Werdau to give
the car to the Elders. Took a bus back. (Also another miracle! it’s like 20
euro cheaper!) Then Frau Dhillion. We will teach her Daughter English next week.
Then a lesson with Claudia fell out. I cried. Not a surprise though! I was
stressed. So we ate dinner with Lucy and talked about the Book of Mormon. That
helped!
Freitag: We went and anmelded Sister
Bills. (getting us signed up in the city.) And another miracle is that that
appointment took exactly as long as we needed it to. Then, off to Sch. Dörlitz!
We of course ate a lot and looked at lots of pictures. I was fully satisfied
and could have taken a nap. But...instead we came home and did weekly planning.
Then...off to the Meckel’s! Sister Bills was shown all the animals from ferrets
to snakes. She wasn't as disgusted as Sis. Medley was;) And the kids love her!
Especially Fynnlay! He's excited that he can actually say her name. He can't
say mine. and doesn't really try anymore. I'm just Kleine (little/small) Sister:)
We taught the commandments and we drew pictures and read scriptures to have
them guess what commandment it was! Interactive lesson! They are the best! Oh! And
we live right in the center of the city, and Gera allows protests to go down.
So, this day there was a huge protest (against the refugee's coming) and we had
to walk all the way down and around to get to our house. Policemen
everywhere.
Samstag: We taught Lucy in the
morning and ate warm bread from a bakery. We then had lunch and tried to find a
street that a contact was on. Even with the map I got us lost! But we did go
finding, handed out a few cards. The usual. Then we taught Sandy. And just as
the lesson was getting good...Raymond showed up. The African investigator that
we used to teach. They are friends. So, they got distracted, then we got
distracted because we saw the Meckel’s walking down the street. We went and
said hi to them and then...it was dark. And we were supposed to be in our apartment
by 6 because it was Halloween. Even though no one does anything for it. But, it
ended up being good because there was a Nazi demonstration on markt and it
started right as we came in. It's interesting that things like this still
happen. It was loud and they were not saying very nice things. The world is
wicked. We are here just trying to bring a little sunshine into the
world!
Sonntag: CHURCH!!! My favorite part
of the week! ALL the Meckel’s came except for Pascal! We got to teach Aja YW's
and I had to play the piano...practice people.... practice while you can! Then,
Schwester Dörlitz with the Elders and Lucy! That was all kinds of fun! Lots of
food and singing!:) Then studies and a little get to know you with Sister
Bills...we hadn't really had time for that cause we've just been going! She's
awesome and I'm loving having her as a companion! It's just hard going from
being with someone for 7 months to someone new. But she's great! And it feels
right that she is here!!
This week...has been stressful. I
hate being in charge. I hate making decisions. I hate keeping track of time. I
hate driving. I hate being the one who is pushing us to be 100% obedient and
speaking German. I hate that I don't feel adequate. I hate that somedays I just
don't feel like I did enough. All in all...I’ve been stressed. However, I have
a stronger testimony of prayer now. Every single little prayer that I've said
when I've been stressed has worked out. Every single one. Everything has worked
out. I've felt comforted and not so alone. I've felt peace while driving. I've
seen people talk to us on the street when I've prayed that just SOMEONE would
stop and talk with us. Every little prayer. They were all answered. I know that
taking over this area is exactly what I need and when I need it. Sister Bills
is a little more quiet than I am and a little self-conscious about her German.
So it makes me push myself and be a little louder and more confident. Heavenly
father knows what we need and when we need it. He never gives us things that
are too hard for us!
I love you all so much and hope that
you all stay safe and have a happy week! Happy November!! Love you!!
Liebe Grüße, Sister St. John
